Shipping container delivery requires adequate room for the delivery truck to safely position and unload your container. Use the guide below to help determine whether your site has enough space.
The amount of space needed depends on the size of the container. In addition to the container itself, the delivery truck needs clear space directly in front of the final placement location.
Delivery length is only part of the equation. The truck also needs adequate width and overhead clearance to safely reach the container placement area.
Maintain at least 12 feet of clear access width along the delivery path.
Maintain at least 16 feet of overhead clearance for the delivery truck and container.
Make sure the entire delivery path is accessible before your scheduled delivery.
Make sure entrances provide adequate width for the delivery truck.
Check for power lines, trees, roof overhangs and other overhead obstructions.
Remove vehicles and equipment from the delivery path before the truck arrives.
Consider whether the delivery truck can safely navigate turns leading to the placement area.
Make sure the final container location is accessible and ready for delivery.
Keep the entire truck approach and unloading area clear of obstacles.
These measurements are general space requirements and may vary depending on site conditions, access, terrain, container placement, and delivery equipment. If you are unsure whether your property has enough room, contact J-2 Containers & Storage before scheduling delivery.
